LOCATION:
Knoxville, TN
SIZE:

PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The Grandiflora will transform the previous Knoxville Baptist Tabernacle Church into a catalyst for positive growth in East Knoxville. The heart of the project is a renovation of the historic sanctuary into an elegant venue for local music, weddings, and community events.
The previous support wing of the church will be replaced with a new structure. This subtle addition will showcase a second boutique venue and a landscaped courtyard for outdoor events. In addition to the new event building, an existing residential structure on the property along Magnolia Avenue will be renovated into office space for nonprofits.
On the back side of the site, a dilapidated school building will be removed, and in its place, two new homes will be constructed to restore the historic fabric of the existing neighborhood. Adjacent to the homes, a quarter-acre park and garden will be developed. This gated public amenity space will be open to the neighborhood during the daytime and available for events.
Sustainability is crucial to this project, with a goal to have Net Zero energy usage. In addition to a rainwater capture system for all landscaping, this will be accomplished through the use of solar array shade canopies over the newly landscaped parking lot. MHM is proud to be working with Phil Lawson, the founder and chairman of , to make this exciting vision a reality in East Knoxville.
