PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
As the Design-Build partner with , MHM designed the 145,000-square-foot Gibbs Middle School in northeast Knox County. Tasked with creatively applying Knox County’s School Building Standards, the design team delivered a turn-key facility within a guaranteed maximum-price contract.

The school is located on a 25-acre site behind the existing Gibbs Elementary School, oriented to optimize solar exposure along its east/west axis. The site circulation was designed to separate bus and auto traffic patterns, utilizing the elementary school's driveways during off-hours.

The facility consists of two primary buildings. The core services building houses administration, a cafeteria, a gymnasium, an auditorium, and a media center. This media center connects to the academic building, which contains 38 classrooms, the CDC program, and the art program. The building supports a one-to-one technology infrastructure for state-of-the-art learning.
