Project Architect
FUNCTION
Has responsibility for the preparation of design development and construction documents on assigned projects. Coordinates the production team and consultants to develop design and produce cohesive and complete documents. Involved in programming, schematic design, and C.A. as determined by PM and size of the project.
OBJECTIVES
Provides technical input to the project through all phases with particular responsibility during the design development and construction document phases.
Responsible for meeting established programs, schedules, and building cost estimates.
Ensures that the project execution meets all the requirements of the client, approving agencies, and the quality standards of MHM.
Establishes Life Safety strategies of a project early on and ensures the project progresses in full compliance with applicable codes.
Establishes major assemblies, products, and systems to be employed for overall constructability and conformance with the overall program, schedule, and cost parameters of a project.
Meets MHM sustainability goals and determines systems and materials that optimize performance and overall value within the project's parameters.
Analyzes and produces project-specific detailing strategies and ensures completeness and constructability of solutions.
Reviews progress drawings and communicates frequently with the entire Design Team to ensure consistent quality of project deliverables, standards implementation, and clear representation of project scope.
Identifies and resolves scope gaps and technical problems during the design phases.
Ensures that the project’s technical development carries out the established design intent.
Leads in the development of design through implementation of site, building, and detail implementation.
TYPICAL TASKS
Prepares or directs the preparation of design development and construction documents by assigning and monitoring tasks of the project team
Prepares or directs the preparation of programming and schematic design documents as directed by Project Manager.
Participates in client, consultant, and design charrette meetings as determined by Project Manager.
Provides support/input to Project Manager for budgeting and scheduling as needed.
Periodic reviews of in-house and consulting teams’ work product for compliance with program, applicable codes, and overall quality.
Performs Code Check and distributes to the entire team; analyzes compliance at each milestone.
Prepares CD cartoon set / mock-ups in collaboration with Project Manager.
Develops building details and selects materials and systems.
Coordinates the work of consultants and in-house staff in collaboration with Project Manager.
Coordinates with all outside consultants and in-house technical specialists.
Checks and coordinates all construction documents.
Provides assistance during construction administration.
Coordinates design reviews to ensure that the design intent of the project is realized and coordinates closely with the project’s design lead.
Assists PM in compliance with all QA/QC processes, MHM design process, sustainability guidelines, and standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Four or more years of experience in all aspects of practice.
Education: Bachelor of Architecture or equivalent.
Registration: Required.
Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of all areas of construction document preparation.
REPORTS TO
Project Manager and PIC
