FUNCTION

Has significant responsibility for the concept and development of interior design standards within the firm and a high level of execution on projects.

OBJECTIVES

  • Works with the design team to achieve a high level of interior design quality consistent with the firm's objectives and Owner’s project goals.

  • Works closely with the interior and architectural design team members to ensure quality design within time and budget constraints.

  • Stays well-informed of current interior trends: materials, furnishings, technology, and concept representation.

TYPICAL TASKS

  • Initiates and develops interior design concepts consistent with the established design intent.

  • Presents interior concepts to Owner and oversees generation of presentation materials.

  • Develops interior design details and systems.

  • Selects interior materials, furnishings, finishes, and equipment.

  • Coordinates with in-house technical staff, outside consultants, and project team members.

  • Ensures that the design meets code and regulatory standards.

  • Maintains positive working relationships with material representatives and furniture dealers.

  • Provides guidance and mentorship to younger interior’s staff.

  • Prepares and administers bidding, purchasing, and installation of furniture and accessory packages.

  • Maintains a positive relationship with the College of Architecture and Design for staff recruitment.

 QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:        7-10 years required.
Education:          Bachelor of Architecture, Interior Design, or Interior Architecture.
Registration:       NCIDQ Certification preferred.
Knowledge:       In-depth knowledge of programming, planning, and interior design.
